For most drinks, it is the alcohol that contributes to the total calorie content. So a comparison between drinks is easy; the higher the alcohol content, the higher the calorie count. The alcohol content of a beverage can calculated from its percentage alcohol content by volume (% ABV), which is marked on the bottle or container. Beer can have an alcohol content ranging from 0.05 -10%, wine usually is 5-13%, while liquors and liqueurs can be 14-40% alcohol. For drinks such as liqueurs that have lots of sugar in them, it is a combination of the alcohol and the sugar that bumps up their calorie count.
So what to offer? For the beer drinkers there is the choice of lite beer. By making that switch, a party goer can save about 40 calories per bottle. But what about drinks that contain "hard liquor"? Many people think gin is lowest in calories, but it just isn't so. Gin and tonic may have been the drink of choice for colonials, but that was to fight off malaria. Ounce per ounce gin has just as many calories as rum, whisky or tequila providing they all have the same alcohol content.

You can check the energy content of your drink (if you buy it in the store) by evaluating the ethanol and sugar contents of it.
I guess that if you would like to have an alcoholic drink with so low calories as possible (and still having the favorable effects of ethanol), you have to dilute pure spirit without too much sugar (e.g. vodka) in preferred ratio (e.g. 30 part vodka, 70 part water).
Another question, of course, shall be: what is the taste of this kind of diluted ethanol...? Should there be some aromatic compounds or sugar?

Go to www.nutracheck.co.uk./calories
They have a list of specific drinks and their calories side by side to compare. But, I think they are on the low side. I was told that an shot of booze has between 200-300 calories. Add juice or soda, the calories per drink can only increase.

All straight liquors are calorie-free. You can drink that, or mix anything else calorie-free with it, to make a zero-calorie cocktail. (Don't pick liqueurs or flavored-liquors, though, because they have sugar added.)
Warning:
Your body thinks alcohol is energy. When you have alcohol in your body, it gets burned like energy. So if your body is burning alcohol, it isn't going to be burning any calories. That's something to keep in mind. And you might want to stay away from alcohol as much as possible, if you're just starting a diet.
