Registered Nurse here; When vomiting, one tends to think of hydration, more than nutrition. Another words concentrate on fluids, give the stomach a rest from food. Fluids, such as: apple juice, pedialte, Gatorade, sports drink, and give in small amounts about 1 oz. at a time, and sip this ounce. When the stomach is irritated from a virus, it must run it's course, therefore forcing food will only come back up via vomiting. Also gradually introduce food back into the diet. Start with Jello, Ice cream, chicken broth, saltine crackers, plain unsweetened tea, rice, banana's, baked potato, chicken noodle soup. Maintain this diet for 24 to 48 hours after vomiting has subsided.
Your a great mom, your son is lucky to have a mom so concerned about his condition. Thanks for the opportunity to address such an important and well worded question. Hope your son is feeling better real soon.

1. Stop giving him milk.

2. Start giving him water in quantities
of 5ml, every 10 minutes.

3. Start giving him sugar and salt added
water after 4 hours.

4. Ensure he does not take more water,
he will vomit again.

5. Keep him on fast for atleast 12 hours.
( no solid/semi solid food)

6. After 12 hours he will eat like a glutton,
which has to be checked a bit for overeating.

Give him some fluids like Gatorade or water. Don't give him any food or anything like that until he's stopped vomiting. After he's stopped vomiting, give him clear liquids such as broth and jello. If he tolerates those okay, then you can give him bananas, rice, applesauce and toast (not all together, though). If he handles those things okay, then you can continue to advance his diet slowly. At this point, the gatorade and the water will help his body maintain an adequate electrolyte balance so he doesn't develop other problems due to dehydration.

if your boy is vomiting then the old remedy always stands with me,
starve a virus
feed a cold.
If your boy is vomiting because he is ill then i would not give him anything to eat for atleast 12 hours but i would give him small sips of water every hour or so.

If he is vomiting - just give him ice chips - if the vomiting lasts longer that 24 hrs. then contact his doctor. Introduce liquids after the vomiting stops and gradually onto solids.

Give him ORS, plain water, lemon in water with sugar and salt, liquid yogurt ( lassi). Do not give drinks with much added sugar and salt, such as juice drinks, carbonated drinks or thick soup . Clear soups and fruit juices may be given. To eat, give small, frequent meals of soft food such as yogurt and plain rice or khichri, cereal, banana. Keep him well hydrated. Continue feeding to prevent weight loss.

Clear DIET soda, like 7-up or sprite. Sugar is not good for him when sick. Chicken broth, hot tea (peppermint is good for upset tummies). When he quits throwing up give crackers and then slowly add in other foods.

First I would keep him off food and give water only. Then I would ask the advice of a Doctor.
