So if someone kept calling you a paedeophile? You could after all end up unemployable and shunned by your neighbours!!! You could even be set upon!!!!!

There are various reasons why people get mad at name calling and it is generally because the ones doing the name calling lack the intelligence for debate and the ability to reason and will therefore stupidly continue to do so..

But if you are happy to be called names!

It is immature. When someone comes to me, and gossips about another person, and resorts to name-calling, my first thought is "How insecure is this person with himself?"

I truly believe it is better to shut up and look stupid, than to speak up and prove it. Now, I will admit that when I lose my temper, I do get acid-tongued, and Viper-ish, and can cut a person to shreds, but that is only as a last resort (read: flash-fire), and very rarely happens.

I do admit to being sarcastic, wry, and overall sassy and funny, and believe if the person wants to start a game of dish it and take it, I will comply, albeit in fun, but if they get mad at me for what I say, I remember next time that this person takes themselves way too serious, and won't comply.

But if someone stoops to calling me a name, and is serious about it, I don't let it bother me, because I know what I'm worth, and I know what the majority of people think about me, and I know that THAT person is wrong.

No... being called names hurts and and getting mad is a normal emotional response... has nothing to do with immaturity

calling names is immature because you are trying to make yourself look better by hurting someone else

its really not that difficult to figure out

seems like since these are not ones that we must associate with and we do have a choice to read or not read then it is a little immature and yet the idea of suggesting to those with no manners that it might be a good idea to learn some is an OK pursuit as well.

I go back and forth. But I think Jesus was a great example. A lot of times, if someone slammed him, he just kept his mouth shut. Wish I could do that.

We do not have much control over what we get angry about, but we do have control over what actions we display when we are angered.
