cats and kittens sleep about 20 hours a day. they roam the house through the night.
Metabolism
Cats commonly sleep curled into a tight ball.Cats conserve energy by sleeping more than most animals, especially as they grow older. Daily durations of sleep vary, usually 12–16 hours, with 13–14 being the average. Some cats can sleep as much as 20 hours in a 24-hour period. The term cat nap refers to the cat's ability to fall asleep (lightly) for a brief period and has entered the English lexicon – someone who nods off for a few minutes is said to be "taking a cat nap".
Due to their crepuscular nature, cats are often known to enter a period of increased hyperactivity and playfulness during the evening and early morning, dubbed the "evening crazies", "night crazies" or "mad half hour" by some.[18][19]

It is not abnormal.
You don’t mention how old your kitten is. If it is under 3 months, it is very normal.
When kittens play around, they are usually hyperactive.
Then they have to compensate it with a lot of sleep.
So, your kitten seems to be normal and healthy. Enjoy seeing it grow.
Good luck!

Have you had a cat before?
Seriously, every cat I've owned sleeps a lot. Often they are more active at night, it depends.
As long as the kitten is otherwise ok, don't worry.
If you're still concerned, talk to your vet.

Kittens are playful when you play with them.....but in general they like to sleep in the sun.....so if there's a nice warm, sunny spot in your home that's why he likes to sleep. Lot's of times they are playful at night. Know the expression "Lazy Lion"? Cats are generally lazy.

Most cats sleep the whole day. Mine does.
He has his dinner and as soon as it gets dark, he is out on the prawl.
Funny thing is, he will only stay inside at night if I turn a light on.
That is...if he feels like staying inside.

Totally - I have some that wake only to eat, pee and poop. Especailly with kittens since they are growing - they tend to sleep quite a bit.
