Hitler invaded Poland after being warned not to. Poland had a defensive alliance with France and Britain. Hitler was worried about what the Russians might do when he invaded Poland so he did a deal with Stalin giving him some polish territory

1939 - Hitler attacks Poland (some german soldiers were dressed like poland soldiers and they started shooting on Germans, so Hitler declared war on Poland)
Great Britain, France and Soviet Union declared war on Germany.
USA entered the war after the Pearl Harbor.

nazi germany was in the process of invading neighboring countries in 1939.
poland was the last straw......so in the fall of 1939 the second world war began by great britain and france declaring war on germany
