Last night my 60 lb dog ate 6 packs of the chewy sweetarts and has a belly ack. During the process he digested some of the wrapped. He tore them into peices so he didn't swallow the wrapper whole but he probally ate 1 wrapper total. When I got home last night he throw up a total of 3 times and went to the bathroom fine. This morning he has diariha which I know is normal from eating candy. He have an accident back in Jan. and had to go to the vet and have surgery because he ate a box of soapy steal wool pads. I really don't want to hall him to the vet if he doesn't need to go because what happen back then. The vet I used to take him to has retired and I had to take him to a new one and they kinda treated me bad like I'm not a good pet owner. My dog has always behaved and never got into anything but this last year he has got into everything. He is getting older and it's like he's a puppy all over again.

I didn't give him the candy he somehow got it off the dresser. He is a old dog and he is missing his front right leg so he can't jump (or should I say I haven't seen him jump in years) but somehow he managed to get it down. I would have never left it there if I thought he could get it. Like I said before he is very macheivous this last year. It's like raising a puppy, you never know what he's going to do when you leave the house.

I think he should be ok, my sister inlaw has a 50 lb really hyper dog that ate an entire big bag of hershey kisses, and chocolate is supposed to be the worst thing you can give your dog, he had the same symptoms you dog has, shaking wandering around all night, throwing up diariah that had tinfoil in it, throwing up and burping. He was sick for a day but now he is just as crazy and full of energy as ever and very healthy.

Chewy Sweetarts

I think you got ot be careful of what you feed your dog. Even if he has alot of treets they are sick let alone 6 pack of sweetarts and the wrappers. I think you should see a vet out your dog and he'l tell you what to do and give your dog medience. You should either stop fedding your dog candy and give him dog food or treats. You should keep the candy well out they way of your dog.

When dogs get older they start to act more and more like puppys. If you dont like your new vet go and find a new vet or just stand up to the new one.

Hope this helps

I don't think the sweetarts will hurt him. Dogs eat the darnedest things and they seem to pass right through them. Keep an eye on him, but he's probably ok.

The steel wool was a problem, but candy generally won't kill a dog, just make them sick.

The dog will probably be fine but if he doesn't act normally within another couple days I would just call the vet and see what they would suggest.....
Hope your dog feels better and make sure to put the candy away
=o)

As long as he is still pooping and peeing normally he should be fine. If he starts being lethargic or throwing up violently then I would immediately take him to the vet.

My dog at a brand new bag of Oreos and she was just fine!

Dogs can be little stinkers and they never really grow out of their puppy stage! ;-)

You might want to just be sure not to leave stuff where he can't reach - plus 18". (really, really out of reach instead of just out of reach).

Good luck!

He *ATE the whole packet? I think most throat lozengers have written on the packet that excess consumption may have a laxative effect. So apart from this, he should be ok. Just keep a close eye on him for the next couple of days.

The sweet tarts are primarily sugar. This will not harm the dog. Chocalate on the other hand would. Your dog should be fine after it recoups from its sugar high and its belly ache. I wouldn't go to the vet.
