I have a denon dvd(model 1920) player that upconverts to 1080i, so i hope that hd dvd will play. if anyone hase tried this please let me know.

Nope. You need to purchase an HD DVD player to play your HD DVDs. The encoding on those HD DVDs is unreadable on anything but an HD DVD player.

And don't try to get a BluRay player to play an HD DVD or vice versa, because they can't. They are incompatible High Definition standards, and at the moment there's no manufacturer that has figured out how to cost-effectively produce a player that can read both formats.

Your upconverting DVD player's biggest advantage is in extracting the info from your standard DVDs and making them look better on your HDTV.

its upscaling and yes the hd dvd plays in all players just upscaling will get the best picture your player will show and hd players will show it in hd.
got a upscaling dvd and it plays hd and other formats .
