try to identify what triggers the temptation to smoke. unfortunately at this point it is also a physical addiction which is hard to break but I am sure there are times during the day you use cigarettes as a way to escape or cope. if you can pinpoint your stress inducers you may be able to consciously avoid those situations or be prepared to handle them without taking a smoke. you need other alternatives such as chewing gum or eating something crunchy like carrots to satisfy your oral fixation. buy one pack of cigarettes and discipline yourself to only smoke one pack and no more - that is still a lot. don't try to do it all at once b/c it will be a shock to your system. instead, set weekly goals for yourself and try to smoke at least 5 less cigarettes per week. in a month you will have cut 20 cigarettes out of your life. may not seem like a lot at first but you will feel better physically and you will also feel good about accomplishing the goals you have set for yourself. good luck!

First of all, people who have never smoked, should not be giving advice on the subject. It is not as easy as it sounds..Nicotine is a drug that your body gets hooked on. The more you smoke, the more your body craves it.
Keep a record of when you light up and how often. Then start cutting back a little at a time.Soon you'll be smoking less and less. But you must not use tobacco as a substitute for stress relief..It put stress on your lungs and heart.
I smoke but at work it is not permitted inside.I can respect that .So, between breaks,I chew on a plastic drinking straw..It keeps my mouth busy and away from that cigarette for a while..Good luck.

that's something you just HAVE to make yourself do. I know it's hard - not an easy task to slow down on smoking. Maybe buy a brand you don't like as much. That helps me sometimes.

If you smoke because you stress out so much, look at what stresses you and find ways to reduce the stress. Then the smoking will reduce itself too.

find other ways to relieve ur stress. take walks, go swimming, eat some cheetos, call a friend, masturbate. whatever makes u feel a little better. if u can find those healthier ways to relieve ur stress, it'll be easier to resist the cigarette cravings.
