I often get chills when I see the flag flying high and rippling in the wind.

I feel proud and honored to have served under "Old Glory" as a Marine for 11 years.

Then I reflect on what the flag represents and become disappointed.
I often wonder if the majority of American people even understand what that flag really represents and what it has cost us (as a nation, and as individuals) to keep it flying.

Sometimes I wonder if they even care.
But I am still proud!

Planksheer sounds like a "conditional" American. He must only believe in being a part of something when it is good or pretty. (Last time I checked, dresses are good, and pretty on WOMEN. Why don't you try that?)

President Bush is NOT "AMERICA". He is a man which was elected to office by the citizens of this country. He may be the President, but he does not make America what it is, Americans make America. You are not an American.

Not flying the flag because Mr. Bush is in office is just a lame excuse.

Sure does! I drive past some houses that fly 15 or 20 all along the side of the road and it looks great! Some bridges I cross have them on both sides in this fashion. It sure is gratifying to see more flags out now than in years past, too bad it took 9/11 and the War on Terror to get people to re-find their pride in this great country. God bless all our service people and God bless the United States of America!

Its a wonderful feeling to see it. I walk by it about 10 times a day and always look up and check it out. The wind here in Afghanistan always blows so the flag is always waving. There are a lot of flags on the base I'm on at least 12 different nations are here but Old Glory is the best.

If I see one, It means I've taken a severe wrong turn, as I live in the U.K. LoL

We dont really get that wound up over flags here, after all, they are only pieces of cloth. I mean, if I were to really think about it, would I think that it was the flag of the rebellion against the crown? I prefer the royal standard myself, older and prettier!

I'm reminded of the fact that I have millions of brothers and sisters that were willing to lay their lives on the line, as I was willing to lay my life on the line, on a dream that everyone may have liberty and justice for all.
