for everyone to simply step back and realize that as we are all individuals we are all going to have different opinions about everything, including religion? Once we have that thought down, why would you insult anyone's opinion? Would you insult their views on world politics, child-rearing, food choice, etc.? Why do we have so little acceptance for different religious beliefs if we can over look differences in other things?

Have you been watching the other sections. There is insulting and intollerant behavior in them as well. My first question on here was about what a ballast in a flourescent bulb did and I got some really insulting answers because I stated why I wanted to know and what I wanted to do with the information. Like if you do not know even this or that simple fact about electricity then you are not smart enough to do that impossible task you want to do. That was pretty much the gest of the answers that were negative. I asked a few more about the project and got some more flack as well as good answers. In the end I got the task (some said was impossible) done.

I think what happens is some people who have a desire to appear smarter than others see the word answers in the sites logo and think oh yeah I can show off. Since no one can see them or hold them accountable then they can pretty much express their egotistical cowardly selves. The differance between this site and the others is that those who do not know their sibject are communicting degrading things to groups they feel have offended them in life and that there are also sensitive people here who actually are trying to be of help. There is still a good showing put in by no nothing cowards as well. This is where you can witness the flesh, and verify the sin that lies within.

Change is one of the most difficult things for people to accept. We hold on so tightly to our thoughts and ideas because we are safe and secure in them whether they are right or wrong. Other ideas and beliefs challenge and threaten many people because these new ideas may cause them to think of things in a different light then they have before. This rocks the boat and creates feelings of insecurity. This brings about change and so we find many people reacting in a negative way toward it.
When it comes to religion and cultural differences there are too many who have no tolerance, understanding or a flexibility of mind to accept.

It's difficult because religions program people to react badly to other religions. All religions are based mostly on emotional arguments and have no real basis. Deep down, they realize this.

Therefore, they are fearful of people with other belief systems, because they know how easily members can be swayed by emotional arguments. They've been programmed to be swayed by them.

They are especially fearful of atheists, because we actually promote reason and demand evidence.

Therefore, the religions really heighten the intolerance of the outgroup in order to bind themselves together stronger.

Because murder is not a little thing, and the different religions define murder in different ways. Nor is freedom, but many religions would take it away from those deserving it.

You can't downplay the importance of religion! To do so is simple ignorance of the ways in which the religions impact society.

True we all have different opinions about the law, but we generally follow it as a society.
It's not about my opinion or yours, it's the majority's opinion at least the ones that have enough courage to speak or write. That's the fight, everyone is trying get get their message out, granted some people are just poking fun at others with no real opinion. But those with true opinions need to speak up,.

We all get put down and pushed around. Made fun of, criticized. Which
creates the constant struggle within ourselves to maintain our self-esteem.
Everybody want us to fit into thier little mold of how they think we are
supposed to behave. And difference scares the hell out them, because it
it makes them feel there is something wrong with themsleves.
When will society mature? It hasn't in 1000s of years. And people will
be partying right on up to the end!

Deluded willfull ignorance is hard not to mock. To deny the truth which is arrived at through revelation in order to demonstrate "tolerance", or to keep silent, is to deny your faith as a traitor.

I don't insult someone else's opinions. It's when they claim that their opinions are "fact" that the gloves come off.
