Just read this:

and search it up on google, you can find many answers that way.
Jumping without rope is just pointless, it is harder to keep a flowing consistent pattern. The reason why you need a rope is it improves your coordination, it sets a flowing rhythm and keeps the momentum for jumping going. It also works out your upper body as you have to keep your wrists moving and your whole body in balance. Jumping rope also sets a consistent pace of your desire. You would loose weight because it is a cardio exercise, like jogging, etc. It is also easier on joints and knees rather than running. How long and how often depends on how badly you want to loose weight. I would say 20 mins is good. Time doesn't really matter, since it depends on how fast and how hard you push yourself. If you feel tired and feel challenged or sweating, you know you are working hard enough. Not a lot of people jump because a lot of people don't know how to jump ropes properly or don't like them because they are not good at it.

Jumping rope increases your heart rate. You are essentially lifting your body weight causing an Increasing your heart rate. Doing this for 30 minutes each day increases your metabolism. you will burn calories by increasing your metabolism. But you need to burn more than you consume to lose weight.

Yes it helps - you are using the legs (large muscles) the arms - upper body ... these muscle groups will raise your heart rate - burn calories + the muscles will tone up (nice legs) and you will feel and look better. This is hard work - do it on a wood floor or a mat - get your heart beats up ( determine your target zone for aerobic exercise) Start off easy - so you can enjoy it and not be mad at yourself! Exercise is great - see the link and you're looking and feeling GREAT!
