Freedom of speech can be argued but in the countries where it is broadcast there is no freedom...... so why should they expect it here? Regardless of what they say al-jazeera is full of propaganda (though american I speak the language to watch the original, courtesy of 3 tours in Iraq and 20 in the Army). It just shows yet more weakness an naivate' of the west to show it here. It will just be more propaganda about how Muslims are peaceful, they will gain some support and meanwhile the terrorists will be laughing.

I am okay with it, I have the remote control and I can use it like a master. I should have a degree in romotecontrololgy as I control what I watch.
I think that all censorship should be left up to the individual, in a free country. We are suppose to be free so I say let the airways be full of differing opinions and let them report and I will decide. I do that with fox all the time. zippo right and on past to the cartoon network it is more relevant.

Freedom of speech is one of the things we brag about. When I was in school (several hundred years ago) my history teacher used the fact that you could get Hitlers book out of the library as an example that America was not fearful of ideas. That our way of life could stand up against any comparison. Do you think things have changed now. I feel that there should be no censorship of ideas. That should be something that we stand for.

Al-Jazerra has a right to be seen in this Country. This is what we as Americans believe in and have fought for. The fact that they are used by terrorists is of little issue. They have the right to broadcast whatever they want to broadcast. Americans have the right to watch whatever they want to. IF they want to believe in what Al-Jazerra is broadcasting then that is their right. It is one thing if Al-Jazerra, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, or anyother news channel was the only choice we as Americans had, but that is not the case. IF we start to censor on this issue where does it stop ?? GIve the Government an inch and the next thing you know they will have taken a mile.
Hopefully everyone is smart enough to take everything that Al Jazerra reports and checks them out themselves.

I feel we should permit it... First Amendment and all. Heck we let the BBC, China, and FRANCE broadcast here.
No more anti-American than the former radio-network "Air America". The American people will vote on the network with their pocketbooks... no listeners, no advertising income.
To the individual who mentioned Tokyo Rose, She was prosecuted because she was a US Citizen providing aid & comfort to the enemy in a declared war.

This is a slippery slope issue. We believe in free speech in this country and should not endorse government censorship. However, we are engaged in a war against radical Islamics and Al-Jazeera is their propaganda machine without doubt. The best parallel I can draw is that allowing these broadcasts would be akin to having broadcast Tokyo Rose in the United States during WWII. Remember that at the end of the war we prosecuted Tokyo Rose for her activities. I would have to say given the circumstance in the world today that I am against this network being broadcast in the United States as long as we are at war. The primary reason for this is because of the potential for them to broadcast messages and potential instructions to terrorist cells in the United States.

another point of view could not hurt. Anybody who has travelled abroad and seen, on foreign news channels, what the media does not show in the US, realizes just how narrow a world view our media presents.
