My husband and I like them but we can never eat them fast enough, and I always end up tossing at least two of them. I do buy them while they're still a little green, and that helps. But are there other ways? Is it really worth it to get one of those banana hanger things?

Well bananas can't stay fresh for longer than 2 -3 days. But u can do the following.Try to purchase according to yor consumption(i mean u said u take 2 in a day). So half a dozen is enough. Also see that color is not so green(as u said little green is good). They should be more (mmmmm....i m not getting words.Sorry!) dark green n very soft.Second thing u can do is U can keep them in dry but not so dry n cold with a cloth covering it.Keep away from sunlight..This will definitely keep bananas fresh for atleast 3 days(Half a dozen).Thirdly there r other varieties in bananas like elaichi one's they r strong to remain fresh for atleast 4 days.Hope u get som help.Bye

I actually just got a Banana hanger and it really works they are lasting at least 2 days longer. I believe a brown bag actually ripens fruit faster. Also keep them in a cool area but I don't put them in the refrigerator.

Beside storing them in a brown paper bag, I suggest when you buy- buy some bananas yellow and some partly green, then when you want to eat them by that time they will be fully ripe. Many people like to make a banana cake with bananas that have become soft.

Leave them in a brown paper bag or hang them on a "banana hook" makes them think they're still on the tree.

I find that keeping them cool (not cold, never in the fridge) slows it down, but it is still tough to keep them cool
