It's wintertime, and some people's bodies really do want to hibernate just like a bear or squirrel. You should keep track of what you weigh, and maybe your measurements (like your waist and hips), to see if you are really gaining weight, or it's just part of your cycle.

If you don't want to gain weight, however, you have to watch what you are eating, and get some exercise. You might consider pretending you are still on cross country to keep your weight steady for whatever sport you want to do in the spring.

But don't feel self-conscious about your stomach. Even if you did gain 5 pounds, you may notice it, but no one else will, unless you wear really really tight clothes. It may be just part of normal growing.

I was in a similar cituation, I use to dance, so I know exactly where your coming from. You should try small excercises in and around the house. Something as simple as walking and running up the stairs. If you are not going to be doing much activity, you should probably watch what you are eating. Eat more fruits and vegtables (perferrably green veggies). You should also want to watch your sugar intake, that plays a big role as well. Don't get depressed or stressed, you can do it!! Good luck to you!!!

It sounds to me like there is an issue here beyond the weight. After all you just don't suddenly gain a lot of stomach weight from eating a lot in one week.

Could you be pregnant? It sounds to me like you are experiencing some of the signs. If not perhaps you should see your doctor as it seems you might have a thyroid problem and it should be checked with a simple blood test.

why don't you invest in the good old fashioned excersise bike ?
winter , can make you feel like you need to eat more because it is cold , but you really shouldn't drop off your exercise regime because it's to hard to get back into it --- so the excersise bike or similar apparatus ? it's your call . good luck .

Avoid parties for the next week, and eat mostly green salades.

you need to watch what you are eating as you did when you were running also getting a treadmill/ joining a gym and working out on a routine should help you out and make you feel better.
