I absolutely love that book. Maurice Sendak's drawings are amazing, I was totally drawn into his world. I particularly love how the boy just stays in his own room- he doesn't actually travel to a far off world- his room just becomes a different world.

I do! I was a pre-school teacher and the kids in my class wanted me to read that book every single day- they loved it. There came a point where I had the darn thing memorized. I love the drawings and the red-haired monster is my favorite. The author is Maurice Sendak.

Maurice Sendak wrote and illustrated this children's classic. It's full of wonderful details - like for instance the way that the pictures take up more and more of the page towards the middle of the book as Max gets further away from his bedroom, but shrink down again as he comes home.

Amazing book - Let the wild rumpus start! By Maurice Sendak - and to keep you all interested there is a film being made as we speak (see IMDB for more details, although it is all very hush hush)

Maurice Sendak's classic "Where the Wild Things Are" was published in 1963 and has never been out of print, at least not in the U.S.

Sendak. Don't know why the other person bought it off ebay for $45. You can get it from most books shops, its been really popular, had loads of people asking for it so probably had a second wind of fame. About £5.99 I think :)

I live in Australia, and when we see an American movie or read an American book, kids are always reading that book. Could someone PLEASE tell me what it's about and who wrote it? If it's so good, maybe I should get a copy to read to my kids...
