My favorite of all time is the 1970 version (called "Scrooge") with Albert Finney. I love this version because it's also a musical and the music and dance brings it to life. I've watched other versions, but this is the one that always makes me feel the true meaning behind the message.

I like the George C. Scott portrayal of Scrooge best, I think. I was very disappointed by Patrick Stewart the first time I saw it (knowing he had done it as a one-man show on stage) but I warmed up to it the next year! Both are VERY close to Dickens.

I love the version with Patrick Stewart playing Scrooge. It was a network movie and is available on DVD.

The 1984 George C Scott version. It is by far the closest to the book.

My favorite version on stage is "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol." Everything is told from Marley's point of view.

George C. Scott was brilliant as Scrooge in the 1984 version. My second favorite is with Alestair Simms as "Mr Bah-Humbug".
