There have been two GMail in the time I've been on "The New Internet". I guess the newest is Google,.. but the old one was not.

SMS is text messageing on a Cell Phone (or similar device).

So you may be trying to E-Mail or IM someone and they have it set up to currently recieve messages on their Cell Phone,.. which you may be running into a compatiablity issue with.

Gmail is Google's mail system and SMS is text messaging (and pic/video messaging, this term is mostly used for cell phone/ PDAs)
