During sleep blood filtration doesn't stop. When the bladder becomes full it builds pressure on nearby organs. It causes a stimulating impulse to penis. Whenever there is stimulation the blood flow increases there and penis gets errected. As soon as the bladder becomes empty it takes stimulation away and penis becomes loose as usual.

Most healthy men wake up in the morning with an erection. The slang term for this is "morning wood." This is normal and it's fairly common. Men have several erections a night as part of their sleep cycle. Many times they wake up and find they are still erect.
A man's penis becomes erect ("hard") in response to sexual arousal, excitement, and deep relaxation, such as what's experienced in deep dreaming sleep. An erection is caused by a rush of blood to the penis. A man's penis, especially a young man's penis, can also become erect without any kind of arousing stimulation — this is called a "spontaneous erection."

I am only answering this question because........
I feel sorry for u for asking !!!! with those responses.
It is to do with the flow of blood in the system which is dependent on many different factors. the most important of these is stimuli.
if the brain is receiving arousal messages, it triggers the erectile response. It is just pot luck really and nothing to worry about at all.
if he can't get one during the normal course of events that would be a problem. what's the point of worrying about it when u r unconscious? it is a waste of space, really !!
i prefer not to bcause it means if i want to wee i don't have to lean against the wall !!!
it is not directly related to having a full bladder or not.
I believe it is a chemical/hormonal thing. I also think it may be because u have a good healthy sex life and a lot of the residual chemicals are used up which might cause the response. so that's good !!!

Erectile Dysfunction can be devastating to men, and unfortunately, millions of men suffer from the condition. Learn how to cure erectile dysfunction https://tr.im/YfDls
If you go to the doctor to talk about the issue, you’re likely to get put on one or more of the popular medications used to treat the condition. While they can be effective (temporarily), these medications come with a raft of side effects, some of which are decidedly unpleasant. Even worse, these medications aren’t really a cure, they’re more like a temporary workaround.
Worst of all, they tend to be really expensive. Month after month, you’re having to pay to work around your condition. That’s what the Big Pharmaceutical companies want.

The organ responsable for maintaining an erection is also responsible for holding the water. Now,if your boyfriend doesn't have to urinate first thing in the morning like other folks, then maybe you should get ready to buy him a new belt-buckle.Make sure it's a large plain-faced one.Have it etched or inscribed with these letters----T D D .That's Tombstone for a Dead D--K.My condolences.

Believe me, I have the correct answer.
Men have erections in the morning because they have just wakened from REM (rapid eye movement) sleep -- that stage of sleep when we dream. A hard, stiff erection is part of the physiology of REM sleep in men.
Why your boyfriend does not seem to have them? When he wakes he is probably already out of REM sleep. Believe me, the man has erections when he sleeps. He just does not realize it.
Some have given you answers that are partly correct; others have completely missed the boat.

It has to do with the fact that the bladder is full and we need to urinate which causes an erection in the morning. This happens to me almost every day.

What an interesting question.
I dont know the answer.
But i wake up with a hard on every morning. Whether i have to pee
or not.
Usually i am laying on my stomach, so maybe it depends on how a guy sleeps.
