Do not try to convince a Liberal- they are not interested in facts.

Sounds like it's more about bad parenting and lack of family structure. I am not sure exactly what you mean by "liberal" parenting? Kids are all different and some can handle more freedom than others. I would imagine a lot of these kids come from broken homes or just aren't loved or cared about to much. I bet some have very strict parents and they rebel against that. Sound like there are a lot of factors, with lack of family interaction being high on the list.

It doesn't matter what a parents does/doesn't do,we always get the blame.
The government brings in these laws, without really looking into them and the affects they will have.
As a child.i would be severely chastised for any wrong doing, but today, kids just laugh at you.
Not all teenagers should be put into this group,as there are a lot of well-behaved ones out there, but it is the minority who give the rest a bad title.
I have A 16 year old son,and i believe i brought him up with the right moral values. He's been taught his manners, and to respect his parents and anybody Else's belongings.
He isn't a violent boy,he doesn't smoke,do drugs or drink alcohol,so surely i must be doing something right.

This has all stemmed from the time that any sort of physical chastisement became classified as assault.
A loving and normal parent often has to control an unruly child and a short, controlled smack is sometimes, note.....sometimes, the best way to do it. Children would grow up knowing exactly where the boundaries lay between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, but nowadays anything seems to go.
The war cry is now "I know my rights" but they haven't been taught to respect the rights of others.

parents don't put enough emphasis on education and hard work to their kids, therefore they have no goals in their youth.

It's not all the kids faults though, they have nothing to do. The parks are full of dog muck, mad dogs & muggers. They constantly are being ask to stop congregating in the shopping centres. The lesuire centre is £5 a go for swimming or football (too expensive for kids!). They have nothing to do!!

Yeah, you may have a point (I'm in the USA)...But now, what do we do?...I don't know how to put the genie back in the bottle..A long, long time ago (and in New York city of all places!) my father would take me and my mother down to the beach on a warm summer night to enjoy the cool ocean breeze...and leave us there ALONE!...he would return the next morning and take us home before he headed for work...As I write this it's as if I'm writing about a DIFFERENT PLANET...I don't know what to do, buddy, to bring back the "good-times"...

How do you define liberal parenting? I am a liberal, my children are among the most ethical around and that includes the kids of my Christian Conservative friends.

Crimes for kicks have been in suburban USA committed by privileged kids looking for adventure, their parents are conservative but neglectful. More a function of parental money and parental involvement rather than liberal or conservative.

Liberal parenting to me also means giving kids freedom to experiment and make decisions, while standing by to catch them if they fall or nudge them if they start veering in the wrong direction. If young adults are never permitted to make any decisions they will lack the capability of doing that when they become adults.

So if you mean has LAZY AND NEGLECTFUL parenting been discredited, heck yes!! And that of course includes strict parents with lots of rules but little attention to enforcement except occasionally.

But if you mean parenting with no strict rules but very clear guidelines and lots of parental involvement, please think again.

Oh, how unfortunate. Its heartbreaking to see that no matter what country. Unfortunately, we can't blame it on "liberal" parenting. Its not that simple, but you were certainly right to use the word PARENTING.
Parents are a child's first and most powerful role model. We should not be too strict nor too lenient with family rules, etc. Whether you raise your family in London or in an African village, a parent must teach their children to respect themselves, others, and societies rules.
Parents' number one priority should always be their family throughout their entire life. Always. Always.

No and it makes little difference if it is,it will still be pushed because it eventually leads to the state being the guardian of all children and the parent left with only the blame and no power to correct the child.

That's not "Liberal" parenting in a political sense. Come back when you understand your own question.
