I have always used gel or cream type shaving cream, spread with my fingers to get a decent lather. I am reading about the benefits of using a shaving brush and would like to pick one up. The good ones are made of badger hair and start at about $30, with less expensive ones made of boar hair.

Wal-Mart carries a shaving brush for about $5, and I'm not sure what it's made of. Would this even be worth picking up to start out with, or should I go right for a good-quality one? Are they that much better?

Also, how do I use this brush with typical shaving gel or cream using the "mug" method? I would assume putting the cream in the mug, and then agitating with the soaked brush would be the best.

I welcome your suggestions. Thanks!

I would use the brush with the cream only. Gel: Rub the gel in good with your fingers-shave. Don't need a brush with the gel; you get all the emollients you need to shave.

definite, and no; conditioner works nicely to soften up the hair so this is much less stressful to shave, and it additionally moisturizes your pores and skin, this is extremely super; although this is ordinary to omit patches of your leg because of the fact in contrast to shaving cream, this is not obtrusive to the place you have already shaved, and the place you haven't any longer. the comparable is going with cleansing soap, even though it does not fairly soften you hair or moisturize your pores and skin, and this is not very thick, so this is extra probable you will decrease your self. so i could propose purely conditioner or shaving cream.
