rainsoft water softener regeneration? When it regenerates how long does this last, its just me and my wife,?

It depends upon the hardness of the water and the size of your water softener. Best to get your water tested for hardness, and then check with RainFresh or the supplier for a suggested regeneration interval.

I've added a particulate filter to the input of my water softener, and use Rust Remover salt to help with iron in the water. Some pics on my web page.
