she was famous after acting in dawson's creek, but not as infamous as today of course. Holmes got her introductory shot at a big-screen action blockbuster in "Batman Begins" (2005). she aslo acted in some famous movies like Phone Booth (2003) and the gift.
However, most people never recognized her in any of her movies until she started going out with tom cruise, thats when people started saying, o thats katie holmes! so i guess she wasnt really famous until she started going out with tom cruise

Kate was on Dawson's Creek. She grew up in Toledo, OH and moved to No. Carolina when she got the role on Dawsons Creek. She's made a couple of movies but nothing really big. When she met Cruise, he dominated her and she followed.

Yeah. Dawson's creek and last night I saw a movie called
"Teaching Mrs. Tingle", it was a good movie in my opinion. She was pretty young in that movie. She's actually pretty young compared to cruise. I think its like a 10-year difference.

yeah she played Joey in Dawson's Creek and she had been in a few films including phone booth with colin farrell. she used to be a sweet down to earth actress and now she just seems to be some zombie following tom thumb everywhere...

to me she was. i was a fan of dawson's creek. and she really did have a respectable resume of tv and film before tom. things only got more exaggerated since him.
