there are no benefits only negative effects. a girl the other day on here asked if it was normal for the head to turn hard, dry and thick and less sentive as was happening to her newly circed boyfriend, and it is normal. that is a pretty sad thing to have happen and that is what will happen to an adult that has it done. if your intact stay that way do some research your lucky don't let this cut happy culture talk you into thinking you are missing out, cause its the other way around the cut men are missing out... so sad really. edited to add: i can't belive the pro-circ feditsh people are still trying to claim its cleaner... this is an out right lie. there is nothing dirty about an intact penis... just bath...all men need to bath so they don't smell... as do all women.

Generally there are no real benefits unless one's having problems with his foreskin. These problems can be severe phimosis where the foreskin opening is too narrow/tight to be retracted fully; in the most severe cases it can be painful upon erection. Recurrent infections or constant irritation may also be cause for circumcision. On average, all these problems that're severe enough to warrant medical circumcision constitute a fraction of the 5% of all uncircumcised men who develop any problems with their foreskin.

There are many studies both advocating and denouncing circumcision. On the whole, studies that attempt to correlate circumcision and STD/HIV infection rates are pretty much even on the pros and cons, so neither side can be fully trusted (see some interesting links).

Will it improve one's sex life? Not unless he has a problem with his foreskin. Most studies in this area agree that being uncircumcised is better, provided that the foreskin is working normally. And this makes sense, otherwise men wouldn't be born without a foreskin. But each person is different. It's very easy to get accounts from people who both regret getting circumcised as an adult, and people who regret not getting it done sooner.

In any case, there's nothing disadvantages really of having a foreskin, otherwise like 80% of ther world's male population wouldn't be uncircumcised. Generally, if it's not broken, why fix it?

There are no advantages. The health and hygiene excuses are based on nothing believable. More than 80% of the men in the world are intact - and wouldn't have it any other way.

The disadvantages are many. The foreskin has a major protective function. It keeps clothing from rubbing against the glans and making it sore, which eventually results in major desensitization. The glans is considered an internal organ - circumcision is akin to removing eyelids!

And foreskin is a pleasure machine both for the man and his partner. It's the only moving part of the male sex organ and produces a most pleasurable "gliding" action that is great for both partners.

It is by no means beneficial. It actually reduces sensitivity.

The only countries that practice routine circumcision, aside form the U.S. (about 60% of male babies are circumcised nowadays in the U.S.), are in the third world (the Middle East, and parts of Africa).

The only reason women would not like a uncircumcised penis is because of CULTURAL factors i.e.: they believe that circumcision is the norm because it is all they have seen. As more people become educated, fewer and fewer people are choosing to circumcise their sons. Soon there will be a class gap where only sons of uneducated parents will be circumcised.

ALL national medical associations of ALL industrialized countries, including the U.S., are AGAINST circumcision.

Circumcision does not protect against infection. And even if it did, infections are treated with antibiotics, not amputation. If you had an infection in your finger, would you cut it off? No, you would take penicillin. Saying "I'm going to circumcise my son because it protects against infection" is like saying "I am going to have my son's tonsils removed because it protects against infection!"

It inhibits the sexual experience. A lot of sensations are received through the bit of skin removed in circumcision. Also, during an erection, that bit of skin has some ridged material that helps the woman enjoy sex.

Both men and women have suffered circumcision to inhibit sexual pleasure, as a way to encourage more fidelity, abstenance, or whatever...

Also, doctors include circumcisions as a way to make people need to come into the hospital. They outlawed home births to this end as well.

If you cannot pull the skin back to clean yourself correctly then you may need to be circumcised. There are a bunch of fallacies (no pun intended) out there that it is much safer and cleaner and better in general, and never mind all of the religious reasons.
If you are a clean person that part will be clean too. If you sleep around you increase your chances at getting one of many STDs circumcised or not. If you get circumcised is up to you whether its important to you and what it means to you. Just know once it is done it is done they do reattach foreskin but to a much more expensive and involved surgery.

CIRCUMCISION IS VERY BENEFICIAL, its cleaner and several research bodies have concluded that circumcised men have less risk of contracting STD's such as AIDS-HIV or herpes.

Uncircumcised penises are difficult to keep clean, and more prone to infections and penile cancer, studies have shown.
A circumcised penis is naturally clean and virtually free from urinary infection. You will not have to worry again with careful washing of your penis.

Is it NOT true that the AAP (American Academy of Paediatrics) does not recommend circumcision. They simply say they leave the decision to parents. But recently, and specially after the New Zealand study, the AAP has been discussing if it may be necessary to change their policy and recommend circumcision to all newborns as they used to do, so in the future we may see that the AAP advocates again circumcision.

About STD's:

As I said, several studies carried out by prestigious research bodies have concluded that uncircumcised penises are more prone to infections and contraction of STD's, including AIDS-HIV. Circumcised men have been proved to be up to seven times less likely to be infected than those who are uncircumcised. Have a look at this site: http://icuxbridge.icnetwork.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=14095142&method=full&siteid=53340&headline=-circumcision-protects-against-aids--name_page.html

As for women, studies also show that circumcision also protects female partners from AIDS-HIV and other STD's. Browse this article: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/Press_releases/2006/02_08_06.html

About sensitivity of a circumcised penis:

No medical or physiological study has proved that circumcision reduces sensitivity, opposed to common belief. The American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) confirms this on their web site; have a look at: http://www.aap.org/pubed/zzzjzmemh4c.htm

Circumcision is an easy and nowadays painless procedure, which has many benefits, and virtually no risks.
Circumcision is NOT an amputation. Circumcision is NOT comparable at all to female circumcision, which is something completely different.

Circumcision rates are INCREASING nowadays, both in the United States and overseas. Many African and South American countries with little circumcision tradition are starting to promote the procedure to help to reduce the AIDS-HIV infection rates.
