Half a pound is about 300 grams.
It's easy to pop a weasel, you just put it in microwave for ten minutes on full power.

Tupenny was two old pennies which translates to 1 new pence. Half a pound = 1.1 kilos. The weasel in question is a device used when weaving. It's the bit that flies back and forth while the yarn is woven. There used to be a lot of weaving in London (hence the lyrics "Up and down the City Road") and there was a lot of drinking, (hence "In and out The Eagle" - a pub in the City Road) which usually happened at the end of the week. So - "That's the way the money goes...". "Popping" the weasel was going to the local pawnbrokers to pawn the weasel in the hope that they could buy it back at the end of the weekend.

Pop goes the Weasel. POP... is a term for "hocking", or pawning an item when times are hard. When finances improve you recover the goods from the Pawnbroker ( also called "Uncle"). WEASEL ......is Cockney rhyming slang "Weasel and Stoat" = COAT, the only item of value owned by many poor folk. THE EAGLE.... a pub on the City road Hackney London, where "the money goes". The rhyme is believed to refer to Tailors or Hatters, traditional trades of London's East End. The northern England version suggests that the weasel is a spinning bobbin, this is unlikely as bobbins were owned by the employers, and have no intrinsic value.

An old penny is worth 2.4 new pence - so that would make tuppence (two pennies) 4.8 new pence.
A pound is about 500gms, so half a pound is roughly 250 gms.
Weasels can go pop any time - they're a bit like ferrets. Maybe they just pop off.
