Sounds like your sister has some pretty big issues to sort through. The best that you can do for her is let her know that you are there for her and still love her. Don't take her distancing from the family personally, it sounds like she's angry with everyone, and no one in particular. Your mom had her reasons for not giving her the money, trust that she knows what she's doing.

You could send you sister a letter, letting her know that you are there and still love her, no matter what, just be careful because sometimes when people have issues like she does, sometimes they tend to try to use you or walk all over you to get what they want or as some form of punishment. Remember, she might not even realize that she's doing it, just be careful.

Sure, go and talk to her. But don't give her any money.

If she was so angry when your mom didn't give her money, then she is a selfish ***** that needs to grow up and get over herself.

My mom has friends like this. My mom isn't rich, she has enough to get by and continue living. A friend of hers basically tried to coerce her into first of all loaning her money to buy her husband a new car and then secondly to loan a very large sum of money. Now this friend and her husband have a lot more money and more expensive house than my mom, but she is just a ***** who wants to take things from my mom and I am sure that the loan would never been paid back. My mom just said "no" very politely, and that friend was so pissed off.

Really, what is the money for? a drug habit? a bad business idea?

If you contact her, don't talk about money. Just ask how she is doing and what she has been up to. Send her a letter, cause if you phone her she will just hang up on you.

Thinik of the very worst thing that can happen if you contact your sister.

She'll try to borrow $10 000 from you, and you'll say no.

Think of the very best thing that can happen:

she's been frightened and worried and miserable and doesn't know how to get back in from the cold and now here you are offering to show her the way.

It's usually better for sisters to hug each other than to ignore.

If I were you I'd write her to see if you could meet someplace like Starbucks, or even just in the park, and see where it takes you.

Worst case, you're still not speaking
Best case - you get your sister back.

There aren't so many sisters going in the world that you can afford to abandon one.

I think sending a letter is a good idea. I would ask exactly what is her problem. You mentioned not getting the money from mom, what does that have to do with you? Hate is a strong word, hopefully she will be receptive and is hoping someone is missing her. Good luck to you and your family.

write and say I love you and I miss you. She probably doesn't realise how much she has hurt you
