If you have WiFi internet on your base, you can buy the Sirius Stiletto 100 portable satellite radio. It will work as a regular satellite radio in the states, but you can use it in WiFi mode to pick up the stations via the internet. This also saves on battery life. It also has a built in MP3 player which is cool. Just activate it in the states and it will be good to go when you get to Japan!

If you want real satellite radio in Japan, you'll have to go with MBCo. Check out http://www.mobaho.com and click on English. They have a couple US radio stations on there and other English language stations. Worldspace satellite radio also provides service in Japan, as well as many other countries, just not the US. Their sound quality isn't as good and they don't have nearly as many channels, but if you think you might get stationed somewhere else, even Iraq, it will work there. http://www.worldspace.com
