Originate? This is unknown.
Feelings (emotions) are associated with the mind, not the brain. Although brain chemistry and electrical impulses can be associated with various feelings, there is no chemical that can be extracted from one brain and injected into another to produce an identical feeling.
Psycotropic drugs react with the central nervous system and the brain, where they can alter brain cell function often resulting in temporary changes in perception, mood, consciousness and behavior. This effect, however is not consistant in the same person, day to day, or in different people at the same time.
Some feelings, like the awe felt upon seeing a striking sunset, or the lust felt upon touching a suitable partner, are conscious. Professionals who study these scientificly have made some remarkable discoveries.
Some feelings, however, seem to originate from the unconscious mind. These are not understood very well at all.
In addition, emotions, or how emotions are felt and expressed, is not the same in all humans. An infant has no control while a Zen or Sufi master may have very much control.
Human emotions seem to be more than just biology.

Well we have reversed some instinct responces and tried to ignore them.
For instance Smileing in similar kinds of Animals is Agression or Fear,.. so humans just love to do that don't they.
And Humans can cross emotions,.. like Hysteria is both Laughing and Crying.
Oh Ya,.. and we gain more emotions and recognition of expressions/emotions as we get older. There are some that kick in in your tweens, teens,.. twenties,.. 30's/40's,.. not that normal people notice but research is finding this out.
