You help them free their country in WWII, but frenchmen sometimes seem to hate americans...why?

They are arrogant beyond belief. I hope next time they need us that we snub our noses at them.

why should they care about our nastiness? especially since we could plunge the whole world into war again? how often do we think about the French? we'd all be better off if we minded our own business,anyway.
seriously, though, i think that the French are afraid of being led into a war or having more terrorist acts on their soil if their leaders pal around with and endorse the americans. and, just like us, they are the captives of their politicians.
edit: ----to anyone who actually thinks it's a "parent/child" thing: YOU are exactly the kind of obnoxious, overbearing, near-sighted, patronizing knucklehead that the French don't like. who says we americans can be "daddy" to the whole world? what do we have that is so much better than anywhere else? other countries have democracies, freedoms, SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, and other "good" things, but they don't try to "raise" the whole world. can't anyone in this country appreciate any cultures that are older than a couple of hundred years????

Folks, if everyone understood the "law" of the Jungle (survival-self interest) there wouldn't be so much confusion..France helped America during the American Revolution because she was against England, not because of any great love for us.. We saved France during WWII not so much because we like french toast but because we had to fight the Nazi for our own survival....and in the same token, she turns away from us(USA) because she's much closer (in geographic terms) to the Islamic Fanatics who like to blow things up..France is watching out for her own a_s_s...As we in America should also do...So don't take everything personal...instead ask yourself: "Now, what would I do if I were in the middle of the Jungle?"...You could run like some (I SAID, SOME) of the French have a mind to do...or you can stand your ground and fight...like some (I SAID, SOME) Americans want to do.

The French consider the USA Culture to be inferior. That includes
Fast Food, Music, Movies, Guns,
Education, Family Life, Sports.
Americans are perceived as Loud and Agressive especially on crowded elevators.

French helped us free our country in 1776, we helped them back in WWII. They should disagree when they want to, were we just trying to buy their loyalty when we went to fight the Nazis??

It's like when a Parent raises their children by giving them everything they ask for and more, and that child learns that the parent is only there to give give give. The problem is when the parent quits giving and expects the child to care for them selves, they can't and only get madder at the parent. Its a parent/child struggle thing. France is the spoiled little brat. In my opinion, we ought to spank the crap out of them and give them a reason to hate the US.

Simply because" normal" french people like Americans and their country very much....But simply can't understand how they choose... And re-elect M. Bush as president!!!

yeah well the french also helped you get your independance hon, they didn't teach you that?
And I don't think the french people hate americans, they just don't understand its foreign policies, like pretty much around the world...
