im buying a guitar that is just fitted with normal humbuckers but i want to fit it with active ones for that real bitchin metal tone but idont wanna buy a brand new guitar with them already fitted

You would have to re-solder the wiring on the inside, so there is more work than you may think. Take it to a professional because they know what they are doing.

Here's one option you'll want to look into if you haven't already purchased active humbuckers: An active pickup conversion kit.

Instead of having to replace the passive pickups with active pickups, you just convert the passive pickups to active ones by mounting a boost circuit onto the back of the pickup. It's also cheaper than buying a new pickup and you wouldn't have to solder anything unless you wanted the circuit to be switchable.

Pretty simple really. You'll need a soldering iron though, and pay attention to the wiring as you remove the old ones. I imagine you'll be able to find a wiring diagram if they active ones dont come with one.

its easy...just swap em out...but follow the instructions that come with the new pick-up...if ya wire it wrong ya will have a mess on your hands...and pay attention to where you pull the old wires off...its a relativly easy project if you have common sense and pay attention to detail
