The Lord Chancellor is a member of all three branches of Government - he is in the Cabinet and therefore a member of the executive branch, he sits as Speaker of the House of Lords and is therefore a member of the Legislature, and in his postion as most senior judge he is a member of the judiciary. The American would never allow it!
