Actually, they did research about whether astrology was true, and here's what scientists found out:

1) Astrologers trying to deduce someone's personality from their astrological chart do no better than if they were guessing completely by chance.

2) Different astrologers studying the same astrological chart come to opposite conclusions as often as not.

3) The birth dates of people with occupations linked to certain signs (i.e., artists, writers, politicians) are randomly distributed throughout the zodiac.

4) Couples with incompatible astrological signs get married and divorced at the same rate as people with compatible signs.

Nonetheless, it's still a great subject for conversation on a first date, because usually everyone swears their sun sign is the best in bed.

Weird All Says it best:

Now you may find it inconceivable or at the very least a bit unlikely that the relative position of the planets and the stars could have a special deep significance or meaning that exclusively applies to only you, but let me give you my assurance that these forecasts and predictions are all based on solid, scientific, documented evidence, so you would have to be some kind of moron not to realize that every single one of them is absolutely true. Where was I?

Basically they work if you believe in them. A lot of the ones in news papers are just made up and don't mean anything. If someone goes and has a proper one done by a professional then often they are very accurate.
Up until a few years ago I was certain these things were all made up and I set out to prove they meant nothing. After getting a lot of predictions that were so accurate that it was spooky I changed my mind a bit. Anyway now I have began to experiment with using runes and the results keep shocking me. Perhaps there is something in it.

Guess you just didn't talk to the right person. But you're obviously interested or you wouldn't be here asking this question, now would you?
Careful winball whatever, karma has a way of coming back to bite you in the *** for deceiving people. Shame on you for doing that and thinking it's funny. How many people did you hurt and rip off by doing that????

How can 1/12 of the world's population all have the same day, day in, day out?

I used to write the horoscope column for a weekly magazine.

We used to have great fun in the pub on Friday night making them up, and yet still used to get mail praising our 'psychic powers', because it all fits someone. The trick is making vague statements sound like specific predictions when applied to an individual.

"Despite difficult times, Saturn entering your chart shows that a corner has been turned: you will be glad you presevered."

"An answer you have been seeking will come to you, although some may doubt whether it is the right one."

your right - but tomorrow why not check your horoscope in the papers - it might just say "you will find people will agree with you this week"! - they normally write stuff that covers just about anything

Horoscopes are merely predictions by people who have no other things to do. As humans are imperfect, their predictions tend to be imperfect as well. Many are based on plain suppositions.
