Has it gone too far?

Especially during holidays inwhich are religious in nature?

Ie, Christmas (the day Jesus was born; which is celebrated as such around the globe)

Yes it has gone too far. For all those who don't like Christmas carols that mention Christ, you go to work in the hospitals and police forces and all those jobs that still have to be done on that day. NO TURKEY & DRESSING OR HAM OR COOKIES OR CANDY CANES FOR YOU!!! No presents for those people either.

And if we are to truly separate church and state, let's get rid of the religious holidays. Open congress on Christmas and Good Friday. I think these are the only two "holidays" that are actually recognized here in the US that are Christian based.

Remember where the word "holiday" came from originally. It is a combination of 2 words: HOLY and DAY. Therefore, only religious days should even be called holidays. Every other day that they don't work (you know the ones, the post office is closed on these days and all the banks) then let's just call them: "The government is to dam lazy to get out of bed" days.

Well I think most people celebrate a cultural christmas and not a religious christmas anyway. But there are many holidays that go on in December so I don't see what's the problem of calling it "The Holidays" to include EVERYONE, even those that don't celebrate anything but still have holidays/vacations.

Of course individuals can call it whatever they want and so do private companies or organizations, but the government is ought to govern to all its people, Jews, Muslims, atheist, jehova witnesses, everyone.

It's not about hating god or christmas, it's about respect and diversity.

It has gone WWAAYY to far !!! Christmas is religious no matter who and how people try to change it , There are to many Christians in the US for that ever to change so the ACLU might as well hang up that fight . There will always be Christmas and it will always be religious. I`ve noticed this year even Walmart has brought back saying Merry Christmas when last year they said happy holidays..................................................................................The generation most hurt by POLITICAL CORRECTNESS is our younger generation (us over say 30 are set in our ways)But these kids in school now are being taught to be insecure wimps because of it !!! Teachers can`t correct papers with red pens because the color is to bold and might hurt there feelings, They can`t play TAG in school anymore because the person tagged it might be intimidated and get there feeling hurt. .HOW ARE THESE KIDS EVER GANNA LEARN TO HANDLE DISAPPOINTMENT WHICH IN A PRIMARY PART OF LIFE!!! No wonder we have kids shooting kids in schools because they were treated badly by someone there, they didn`t know how to handle rejection, And it`s funny all that started AFTER THEY TOOK GOD OUT OF SCHOOLS !.................................................And all political correctness does in government is give politicians way to LIE and get away with it by sugar coating the truth JUST SAY IT LIKE IT IS AND BE DONE WITH IT WE ARE NOT STUPID WEAK PEOPLE WE CAN HANDLE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Political Correctness is what we used to call being polite. The term is being abused by the side that wants to eliminate any religious references in publicly funded places and is also being abused by that huge majority in this country who want to cry foul, that the Christians are being discriminated against.

Seriously - all of you who scream because stores don't say Merry Christmas and schools don't allow Christmas songs in their holiday concerts -- would you accept "happy hanukkah" from a store clerk? Would you accept any sort of "blessings of ramadan" or whatever?

Why do you support banning the use of federal money in any family counseling program that provides birth control counseling and yet you also support the use of federal money in faith based initiatives who are allowed to violate federal anti discrimination laws in their hiring practices.

I honestly cannot believe that Jesus would be worried about what store clerks say or what is sung in the schools. I honestly think he would look at war and suffering, AIDS and poverty, and wonder why in the world everyone is focused on the superficial, why His holiday has become the one chance for retailers to make a profit during the year as we ignore what is truly important.

Go out and do what you can every day - help someone, say Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukah to someone, donate to a food bank instead of fighting it out for the latest "gift du jour" and worrying about who is picking on you.

I'm an agnostic(tipping towards atheist) who enjoys the Christmas season..most folks seem a little more cheerful and warmer at this time of the year..and this political correctness c_r_a_p bugs the hell(??:-) out of me!..I say call a spade a spade..I'm not offended by anyone (or a society) explicitly expressing his religious beliefs in public..those folks and organizations that want to turn every aspect of our (USA) society into a bland mixture where no one knows what in hell he's celebrating are intellectual numb-nuts..

Christmas is a day when people have a good time together and forgive each other. I guess all religious holidays are meant for people to havea a good time with each other and respect nature and God.

Political Correctness will be our ruin. It only numbs people to what we are allowing to happen to our children. We are teaching them to associate themselves with their sexuality and nothing else. We are teaching them that being a Christian or even just believing in God is bad and should be hidden. The list goes on and on. Kids, or even adults, these days only know what MTV is brainwashing them with. And it's not the MTV that I grew up with.

I think that the moment political correctness came into being it had gone too far. There is a difference between tact and political correctness - political correctness = deceit, tact = courtesy in my opinion

actually the conjoining of the 'stars' that would have signified the birth according to legend would have occurred in September, using of this season by the christians was a way to be inclusive to the pagans and to 'convert' a pagan holiday to a christian holiday. do the research for yourself.

by the way, i love it when a christian places a tree in the house, decorates it with bobbles and then sing songs about it,,, he he ehe he he he just love it... I think to my self " Father forgive them .. they know not what they do!!"
