I live in the U.S. where we use Fahrenheit and I have friends that live else where and they use Celsius. Is there a simple solution for changing Celsius to Fahrenheit so i understand what degree it is there?

Using an Algebraic Formula:
For the mathematically daring, here is the algebraic formula used for conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius:

Tc=(5/9)*(Tf-32)
Tc=temperature in degrees Celsius Tf=temperature in degrees Fahrenheit
* means multiply

Now, to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit,:

Tf=(9/5)*Tc+32
Tc=temperature in degrees Celsius Tf=temperature in degrees Fahrenheit

Buy a thermometer that has the conversion already on it. I also have a friend in a different country, and it's a pain to try to convert the two scales. But basically, 32 degrees in Fahrenheit is 0 degrees in Celsius. Now drop or raise one degree Celsius for every 2 degrees Fahrenheit and you should be OK. But it all goes out the window the higher you get away from 32 F. Go to onlineconversion.com for help in this area. Good luck.

F = (9/5 * C) + 32

where F = degrees in Fahrenheit and C = degrees in Celsius

F = 1.8 *C +32

means to calculate Fahrenheit degrees you multiply Celsius degrees by 1.8 (=9/5/) and you add 32

Converting Fahrenheit to celsius

F = 9/5 C + 32

5/9F = 5/9(9/5C + 32

Multiplying both sides of the equation 9/5 by its reciprocal 5/9

5/9F = C + 32

5/9F - 32 = C + 32 - 32

5/9F - 32 = C. . . .This is the Celsius Formula

Converting Celsius to Fahrenheit

5/9F - 32 = C

9/5(5/9)F - 32 = 9/5C

Multiplying both sides of the equation 5/9 by its reciprocal 9/5

F - 32 + 32 = 9/5C + 32

F = 9/5C + 32. . . .This is the Fahrenheit Formula
