I live in what I'd like to call 'a ghetto' area. Basically a social housing estate. Obviously there is slang and laws of society that people follow. For instance a certain way to talk or say things, a certain way to dress and certain way to react to things, certain aspirations. My mother howver has always been well spoken so I picked that up. I'm quite articulate and so I don't exactly 'fit' in. I just dumb myself down a little when I'm around people and my close friends who know me well call me a nerd, which I don't mind. Although I'm quite popular, I think people need to get to know me before they'll trust me because I'm clever.

When everyone gets their exam results back and starts talking about them! You don't want to sound like you're boasting - I'm not that proud of my grades and I'm not a boastful kind of person at all - but when you usually get an A or A+ and they ususally get a B+ or lower, how do you not make it sound like you're boasting?! It just feels really awkward somehow. So when my mates ask how my exams went I usually just say 'yeh I passed them all so I'm happy' or something... but sometimes they ask directly, which makes me feel kind of uncomfortable... and also I worry that they might not think I'm being genuine when I congratulate them on their marks and stuff, if I got higher - I hope they never feel that way, cause I AM being genuine!
And also the fact that everyone EXPECTS you to be bright... like I get A's and A+'s, but I can often make really dumb mistakes, and my classmates will sometimes expect me to know all the answers in class.... but hey, I'm human! (So I'm not sure if I'm actually "really bright" like you ask in the Q... lol)

I think Schopenauer defined it best when he explains the difference between 'will' and 'genius'. Most people who exist these days live through sheer will, i.e. they pay their bills, go to work, and everything is more or less done at a great effort.
The bright one, or the genius, already understands everything, so he/she is in the minority. Thus most of the things he says and does will be incomprehensible to most people. Tragically the bright one stands alone. Call it a sleek luxury liner lost among an armada of ships of fools.

you understand just how dull most of the people are around you
if "ignorance is bliss", then "enlightenment is depression"
the world isn't black and white when you understands things
one wishes that the doors of understanding could be opened in everyone's mind
but you figure out pretty quickly that it's not going to happen
things that come easily for you are a chore for others
thats why con men of all stripes rule the world
people who are "bright" refuse to manipulate the poor and helpless
you must watch the bullies and men in power ruthlessly rule over the dim and weak
this is mental anquish to anyone who cares
my hope, my refuge, is that Jesus' word will be fulfilled, and the "meek will inherit the earth"

I dont know maybe coming off a bit nerdy but the best thing is about being really bright is you'll never be dull.

the fact that when people look at you when you get a reallly clever joke and more than a few ppl did'nt get it and you have to explain it at least twice
