Welcome to the Black Parade is about a character called "the Patient" who dies tragically of some sickness or disease (most likely cancer) at a young age. Since his strongest childhood memory was when his father took him to a parade, death comes for him in that form. A "Black Parade."
:) Love that song!

"Welcome to The Black Parade" is one man's journey into death. The concept behind this song, as frontman Gerard Way has said, is that when you die, death comes as your strongest memory. This particular man, the Patient, has a strong childhood memory of being taken to a parade by his father. Thus, death comes to him as a black parade.

To me, it sends the message that My Chemical Romance are lame; and the song sounds like something Bon Jovi might have released in their heyday.

"Get in line, all you culture zombies and emo wannabes..." I'd guess it's about pretending that all the stupid emo kids and wannabe goth kids should all pal together and maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to tell the world, "Hey, pay attention to us!" It's a way to make those stupid kids feel like they may have some sort of power as a group someday.
