I have a birthmark on my neck that looks like a hickey (size, shape, location) and I get smart-alec comments, smug looks, odd smiling looks from so many vatiations of people in all walks of life. I'm 35 + and single. Any suggestions of a standard response when mark on neck is noticed? I've finally began to cover it with conceler make-up...but I've had it so long...at times I just think "foo on them...just leave it". Yet wonder what might be going through a man's mind who might see me and notice the ' mark ' and maybe not approach me because of it. Real question...seeking real answers.

I imagine over the years you have developed a smile and a quirky sense of humour to go with it! :)

Comments like "I wish!" jump to mind, but I'm sure you have been through that. I wouldl imagine a man worth having will judge you by the intelligence in your eye, the standard of your prose, and quickly see the real you. Perhaps it just sorts out the men from the boys.

Sounds like one of those "strawberry" marks. My 2 little girls have little ones right in between their eyebrows. They fade as they get older. Then there are those kind that don't.

2 things you could do -

1. Tell people to get over themselves (for staring at you).

2. See if it's possible to get it laser removed.

Yes, it's a birthmark. Now get over it. That is what I would tell people.
