Going to Manhatten is now like going to a mall. Starbucks, The Gap, Border's, Barnes and Noble can anything good come of that?

All of those places provide jobs and keep the local economy moving. I do agree with you though; it's getting to be too much.

Hmmm...good question to ponder...it provides employment for many people, the taxes generated from the revenue will help the city provide better service (i.e., police, transportation, etc.) and it gives prosperity to those who have stock in those companies.
