Love stories are my favorite..I like both happy and sad..Pretty Woman, Ever-after are two of my favorite happy ones..and the sad/bittersweet one that always sticks out in my mind is Stepmom also there is one but i can't remember the name it's where the woman is dieing of cancer and she picks out a new guy at beginning of every month!! So I would say sometimes yea the woman should die but i think a man or 2 should also!
Be creative..Hollywood tends to produce the same story lines over and over and it gets to be boring!

To make people in general happier id go with happy ending no death.
But a challenge and what would be a "better" film would be a movie that makes people happy but actually has the female die with a sad ending..
Id go with the second, only to set it apart from the cliche of what a love story is.

If you make the female die than it is more memorable and you can indeed expect viewers to be talking about the movie months after and remembering. A happy ending is more preferable at the time creating more liking towards the movie for the time being but they will soon forget about it.

To me if you had an ending to a film where the female dies and that's it,that would make it a bit of a crappy film, as a love story is suppose to have a happy ending,but say if the female dies and as she is dying Say's something like I love you,and I will always be with you in spirit,or after she dies,you see her guiding the man she loves to a women who will love him the way she does(well you know what I mean,some thing mushy)then it would be good and people would still cry.

Evey movie out in the industry today always has the same ending.The guy or girl get the love of there lives and they live happly ever after...well thats bullshit!!!I want a movie where everyone dies and the bad guy wins because if movies try to portray life some much then why does the best thing always happen???Sometimes the bad guy do win!!and thats what i would like to see!!

No one should ever die! I dont like sad movies I like funny movies. I want to go to a movie to forget about real life and for 2 hours be laughing at something and not walk out upset over something sad and depressing.

I am a sucker for the happy ending but i have seen some films that were able to do the sad ending tastefully that were good. I think the middle ground would probably be best, don't make it a perfect ended, but don't make it entirely sad either... like life!

I would like to see a love story with a happy ending. This is why I don't want sappy love stories because someone dies, get's mamed or has amnesia.

A happy ending. There are enough bad things going on in real life I don't want to see it on the t.v.
