Not so polite who do their jobs well!!! Did Donald Trump get where he is by being polite??? Nice doesn't get you anything. Its how you use your gray matter that counts.

Retired after 32 yrs with 1 co. Give me polite any day.
Polite people have been taught manners & are considerate of others. Polite people can get their points across in a manner which doesn't put people off. They're a whole lot easier & pleasant to work with causing less disruption on the job than their more impolite co-workers. Ruder people are always riling other people up resulting in less productivity & even if they come up with some very good ideas people are less receptive to them. Sure, the world is full of Donald Trumps but is that necessarily a good thing and would you really think that you would have wanted to have been a co-worker of his?

Most supervisors I have met over the past 34 year work history have preferred submissive employees over competent ones.
In my humble experience, intelligent and wise people know when to talk and how to be polite. It is the not so intelligent and not so wise that think over much about their supposed knowledge and abilities and are unpleasant to be around. There is an old saying, "those that know don't say, those that say don't know."

Depends if the polite worker can be trained to be more efficient and the good worker can be taught manners. Rudeness can cause friction in the workplace and this distracts from work.

Polite is very nice, and in some cases extremely important. However, it's all about competence and productivity .AND honesty.
Either way, if one is wise, one is also competent, polite and honest.
