Sometimes? never? White lies? Do you lie to keep someone? Or whats your idea about it?

When I have to answer and the truth would be too cruel to face for others I either answer vaguely or lie by omission. Also, I might say a small lie to avoid nosy people getting more info than I want to share. Still, if you do lie, do it well... there's nothing worse than a bad lie!

Example: A colleague asks how does she look. You look at her and think the dress is one size too small, she's on high heels and can't walk properly, her make-up is not that great and her jewelry doesn't match. A vague answer would be to just smile and say "Wow!" or "That's so YOU!". She'll feel great! To lie by omission would be to say something like "I really love what you've done to your hair!". To answer honestly would mean to make her angry and resentful, so a nice lie is not too bad, is it?

i try to never lie but i do. Sometimes its just easier. I don't even like white lies. If someone asks me how their haircut looks and it looks bad i'll say "i personally don't like that style. other people probably do." then i usually give a reason why i dont like it like "I think you look better brunette cuz it shows off your eyes." I try to be more gentle with the truth that i do say so that i can avoid those little white lies. I've been lied to my whole life by my family and friends. it gets to a point where you realize how much of a waste of time it is.

white lies are good if it keeps someone from getting hurt. They have to be insignificant in that person's life for ex. don't lie about something serious but lie like " do I look fat " ...no .

I believe that lies are acceptable if they protect the person you are lying to. Such as if you tell someone a lie that will save their life...a husband dies and the wife is going to kill herself if she finds out but you lie to her in that instant in order to get her help to keep her alive. Then yes, I believe it is acceptable.

for me, white lie is acceptable because you just say it to make things better.

Telling the absolute raw truth can result in loosing all your friends and your employment.

Social niceties require one to either pad the truth or present it in a more acceptable and palatable manner.

depends on your motive,,,,,, or where you want to go,,,,, do you want a relationship based on a lie, if that is acceptable, go for it,,,,especially if its fun,,,,,but at some point you may want a real relationship,,,with love....a pure one,,,,,,then no lies are allowed or it taints it,,,,,,,,,

A lie is, by definition, an untruth and therefore is wrong. Do we all do it anyway? You betcha we do. It doesn't make it right, however.
