I've been overseas and haven't seen her in a couple of years. I was thinking of giving her money or a gift card, but I feel that these both don't show any thought or feeling.

In my opinion this are the things teenage would love for Christmas: ( i do believe that it is the thought that counts but when we are teenagers cool stuff matters too hehe)

1. i - pod
2. cell phone (if she has one, an update never hurts)
3. a camera
4. a movie (maybe a movie that reminds you of her)
5. Clothes (its hard to match a girls taste, so thats a hard one)

What I would do:
6. A souvenier from wherever ur at, that might be very special, she will appreciate you thinking about her when overseas.

I think the best gift for any teen is a gift card from a bank. That way, they can buy EXACTLY what they want and you'll be "in the know" for at least a few hours. If you get a gift card to say Old Navy and they wanted something from Abercrombie, then you're in the dog house. This way, like I said, your sister can use the gift card anywhere to buy just what she wants. Merry Christmas!

I think if you pick out a gift card to somewhere she really likes, it will show thought/feeling. For example, if your sister likes to read, get her a gift card to a bookstore. Some girls like to be pampered--maybe she'd enjoy a gift card for a facial, manicure, or pedicure. If she's into music, maybe a gift card to FYE. A few movie coupons are nice also. If you live nearby, maybe if a band she likes is appearing, maybe you could take her to a concert. (That could be a bit pricey, though). There are also cell phones that you could give her that have "pay as you go" plans that don't cost a lot. Maybe you could ask your parents for suggestions also.

Most of my family are females,,and believe me when I say to you that what they want is a "GIFT CARD" nothing says I love you but that to them...does not matter what age they are.I have a niece that I have shopped for and felt like I was so kind and loving while doing this,,only to find out,,that they exchanged it for something they wanted to "pick out".Peace and have yourself a very Merry Christmas!!

My 17 year old daughter loved candles. So I got a basket and put some tissue paper (lavender) in the basket as a liner, and filled it with all kinds of different scented small candles and small candle holders, and threw in a few inscents and holders also. She loved it. And don't forget a little card, to tell her you miss and love her.. Merry Christmas...

I would go the gift card or money route. I'm in my thirties and out of the loop as well. :)

it depends on if she likes to shop...
maybe a 17 yr old girl doesn't have time to go to the mall,
i dunno?
then a gift card would be nice,
but if not then you need to find out what she has and doesn't have.

one thing that i get friends and relatives that are girls, are some items from like bath and body works or something. like some lotion or body wash and stuff, they have little gift baskets and such that comes with quite a bit of stuff for cheap. so its something that feminine and shows u actually put thought into it picking it out. its basically something ever girl can use and enjoy. good luck!
