I know that one problem is that some can not afford it, but It would get rid of a lot of lazy bastards in the school system.

Something need to be done with our public school system it is really going down.. For one it was designed for the 1940`s and 1950`s and still being ran that way ..It really is a failure in todays TECHNOLOGY... Look how far down our American kids are on the scale of other countries. We are viewed as stupid by other countries. Why is it our government does not see the IMPORTANCE of ou kids education ??? Look at the majority of our kids today ILLITERATE , RUDE, SELFCENTERD , IRRESPONSIBLE..etc.. They are being taught what??? how to slide by and just get out of school and become societies problem... Look how many *high school* graduates are on food stamps and welfare and don`t want to work,,The # would surprise you .

It's only the best Idea ever!

not only would it cost less for a better education but it would give school choice to parents. (I am assuming a voucher program where the money is attached to the child. The school that the child goes to gets the money).

Only teacher unions, and the worthless department of education are against this. The Department of Education has been over seeing a steady decline in public education since they were created in the '70s.

There are some bad things that go along with private schools. what if private religious islamic schools started popping up all over the place? personally, i like the voucher system but too few people take advantage of it. we need to advertise more to parents about which schools are failing our kids and that they have options to send their children to private or other public schools at the gov't expense. i mean, we spend about $30,000 per student on public school, so taking that money out of a crappy school and giving it to a private school wouldn't exactly cost more.

Public school for everyone was one of the early hallmarks of our innovative new democracy.

Not all need to be on the college track but all need to be prepared for a role in society, otherwise you will just take care of these folks later on in prison instead of giving them the training and jobs needed to be a productive member of society.

You're the one being lazy--focus on how we can deal with students who for whatever reason are unable to cope with the science math and language skills required of a citizen in modern society. Your proposal writes these people off, how can that be good?
