I have an internet connection via a router, i need to access the router via internet, like if i was in NY and my router was in L.A.
how do I access it?

You need to check if your router has this capability (for example, the WRT54G linksys router DOES allow this feature, but old linksys don't and many d-link routers (the simple mid to low cost ones) don't. If your router DOES have that function, you'll need to set up your "access settings" for your router first. To access these settings, usually you connect to it via LAN and type in the default gateway IP. It's usually called HTTP/HTTPS remote access.

you need to to know the IP of the router to access it.....
the type of access may be http/https,telnet,ssh....

if you ar using adsl service most probably the ip that is assigned to you will be a global dynamic one.....
so every time u connect most likely will be getting a new global ip.....

example: http://yourrouteraddress
