Batman.

It would be a close battle only if you took away much of what makes Batman special If Batman uses what he has available to him - it wouldn't even be close. Captain America will suffer a world of hurt.

Batman rules!

He's far brighter than Captain America - the man is brilliant. If Captain America decides to hide, Batman will track him, he will find him, he will haunt him, he will become Captain America's worst nightmare.

Each has reached the pinnacle of their fighting styles. On fighting style alone - it is too close to call. While Captain America has his shield, Batman can unleash upon him a world of high-tech gadgetry, chemistry, bio-weapons, dirty fighting that will leave Captain America a shell of the man he once was. Batman also has a myriad of defensive weapons.

They have fought more than once before. The reference mentioned above by another user occurred, but the other way around. It was batman that won that long fought battle in the sewer - I have the issue where this occurred. Found a link to the battle on the web:

Most readers will agree that when Marvel and DC pit their heroes against eachother, the results are often disappointing.. In any case, I think Batman wins and I don't think it's as close as most people believe it would be.

Batman is a leader not because he's group guy, but because he is so gifted in so many areas.

The real question is what happens after the fight? I predict that Captain America sends Thor, Iron Man and the Vision to get his shield back.

Iron Man walks over to Batman and says, "hmm... say Batman... Captain America would like his shield back".

Batman looks him over carefully, surveys the other two heroes and says "I'll think about it. You gentleman can leave now".

If you had asked me before Ed Brubaker took over Caps book I would have said Batman for sure, however in light of Caps new attitude and more miltaristic way of accomplishinf his ends Im going to have to say Batman but only after suffering lots of damage.( perhaps even the kidnapping of thse close to him) In the old days Captain America fought fairly since Brubaker has been on the book he is a much darker and real soldier like character. Batman still has more resources and fights dirtier.

They have done a marvel and dc crossover comic where superheroes fought one another, and oddly enough Batman and Captain America did go at it. It was the most balanced fight out of the entire comic, but in the end Captain America beat Batman and also prevented him from drowning (they were fighting in a sewer).

Batman, Captain of America fights too nice. Besides Batman has trained for years and years to do what he does. And who knows what secrets lurk in the bat belt?

If everything depended on it, I would say Batman (but it would be close), in straight combat, Captain American would win easily (Batman has shown weakness when fighting some of superior strength, like Bane).

Batman, he doesn't need no Super Soldier Serum to take the fight to anyone. He's purely human, but he can rise to the occasion just like superhumans do.

While both are trained well, Steve Rodgers (Cap) is a genetically superior human (remember, he was "designed").

Still, I'd award the fight to Bats - though I think it would be a close decision...
