Is this why there seems to be tension between black Americans and newer black African immigrants?

The focus of my question is really the "tension" issue. I don't have time for people that deny history...

To make things clear, I'm not "shifting blame" but just stating a fact. It's not to alleviate the buyers of the slaves of any responsibility.... People love to talk about the buyers of the slaves but conveniently forget who sold them in the first place.

Interesting how many of the black people who answered did so in anger or with providing comical versions of "history". Can people please start ANSWERING THE QUESTION ????

I think the first question is quite out of date.
Regarding the second one, the resentment is because the new immigrants are bringing down the fair name that the Americans of African origin have worked so hard to build.

I have been to africa and frankly i can say that black africans do not respect black americans which was a shock to me. Black Africans reguard Black Americans as lazy and bitchy from the conversation i had. Which is try in part, but not for the whole of Black Americans. I think is really comes down to the fact that americans that are black all think they came from africa. This is not true in the first place and the one that came from africa were indeed sold by there own people most often, that is a large statement that they were not liked or unwanted in the African population. Of course this was not alway the case some times it was a neiboring tribe doing the selling to get rid of the neibor next door. Kind of like what the whities did to the native americans. Well the ones the let live.

Hate breeds hate. A cycle that will see no end unless there is forgiveness.
There is not a slave owner (at least in the US) that I know of anymore. There are no slaves in the US that I know of anymore.
Yes, their own people did sell them to the French and to the Spanish and before that, to the Roman Empire by the boat load. It's a fact.
The hatred is still there.... under the surface, as well as jealousy and resentment , but people are gaining tolerance and acceptance as well.
In a few more centuries, hopefully, the hatred will be gone and the acceptance will be the norm. After all it was only a century and a half ago that Norwegians and Swedes wouldn't attend the same church, so they built separate churches, sometimes less than a mile away from one another.
Remember this, as hard as it is/can be for you... multiply that by 100 and that is how hard it was for a black man to get a job 150 years ago when Mr. Lincoln, one of our most brilliant Presidents, set the slaves free in the name of Civil/Human rights/liberties. He was a bright man.
Hatred breeds hatred, and we really did need a push in the right direction to force us into acceptance of people who are not exactly like us.

This is a lie. I'm a black American and I have many friends who have come from Africa for a better life in America. Although there is some tension, it's not as a big of a deal as people like you are trying to make it. I'm glad more black people are coming to America, it'll help keep our numbers up and will bring a "education renewal" to the black American community. Most Africans I've met were intelligent, down to earth, nice people. They just don't share our customs and vice-verse. There are millions of black people from the Caribbean and South America who are black also, wheres the tension there? (Stop trying to stir up drama, because in America if you're black, no matter where you've come from, you're still a n*gger to a lot of racist people). So us blacks from all over have realized this and are working together to prosper in this great country.

There are many different tribes in Africa. So we're not talking about all one ethnicity.
Besides, black people in America, in most cases, have no way of tracing their roots, so they have no way of knowing whether a black friend belonged to a tribe that sold their tribe into slavery, or something like that. As a minority and less-empowered group, it serves them better to hang together.
If you think about it, white people don't hate other whites because of William of Orange's conquest, or whatever.
I'm sure that the "tension" between African immigrants and American blacks is more culturally based than historically based.

Black man NEVER SOLD his own people, this is WHY. First, if you remember the slaves, they were the strongest, healthiest, and women who were able to reproduce and work, now why would an African who lived a farming lifestyle sold HIS ONLY BACKBONE?. It is very simple explanation. We would understood if they sold handicaps and retards, but why sold the most capable people. Doesn't this tell you it is all lies.
This is ONE OF THE THEORIES that White people use to blame SLAVERY to Blacks, and pretend that they have nothing to do with it, and all they want is to create a problem among Blacks. What a ignorant theory.

Who is putting this crap around. While there are greedy males everywhere who are not above corruption and will Judas their own people for the right amount of money, the corrupt people who took up this dreadful practice wouldd never have done so had there not been laws in america making it possible for them to import live human beings as if they were cattle. Southern law was arranged so that these poor stolen people had owners and could never escape and make their way home again.
Take responsiblity for your own actions for goodness sake white southern america, and stop trying to shift blame.

Well, there is definitely tension, but like someone already said, it's mostly based on cultural differences than anything. I've definitely heard the "your people sold my people bit" a few times, but it's more resentment about taking current jobs and other false cr@p than historically based cr@p. Whatever, there's crap amongst all races, so I take it in strise...

Not many blacks know about who sold them into slavery, They blame it all on the white honkeys that bought them. Now they think we owe then a living forever to make amends. So they jump on the welfare band wagon, and got it made. This has been going on for generations. Mo kids Mo Money.
