yes, this is def libertarianism and libertarians typically vote GOP. However, i think most libertarians are for some moral constraints. For example, not caring what anyone does with their personal life is dangerous. This would mean all drugs would be legal, prostitution legal, no gun control laws. even republicans are for some gun control, like keeping them away from felons. i think you are on the right track with your thinking, however there has to be some kind of morality in society otherwise anything is acceptable and chaos ensues. i mean, its difficult to cut people off of social programs, then not care about the ton of teens getting knocked up because that is their private life. It is sad that the gov't has to get involved in peoples lives, but sometimes there is no other alternative.

well, that's not a new idea as you know. The problem comes with getting elected. You have to make people happy to get elected. Slash social programs and you make people mad. Really though, people think that the government spends too much on social programs. If you look at the pie, the biggest slice is the interest payment on the debt. If you suggest trying to pay off the national debt, it is said the world economy would collapse. Weird.
Concerning what people do in their lives, true, as long as no one is getting hurt, why bother. Like prostitution, no one gets hurt, Weed, can't believe that's illegal.

he only problem is what do you slash and what do you consider a competitive based economy, there is so much gray area in there, yes I have some liberal in me but some Conservative in me also, being a business owner, you can take it to far and you see that happening to a small point right now with the Wal-Mart’s and Home Depots,
I have known MANY business owners who are suffering right now because of Corporate Huge Businesses I believe in small business and busting my butt to get ahead, and I do OK, but where do you draw the line, the competitive based economy seems to be pointing though to a very very few in control and those companies do make VERY LARGE CONTRIBUTIONS to those who help them get that way,
What happens when you live in a place where you can get only one Cable Company at a much higher price? Where do you draw the line? what happens when Corporations own America?, This is not meant as a flame of any sort, I just really would like opposing views. I can give you a 1000 examples of how 99% of people loose if we let it go to far. Should a bright young person full of ideas be able to get help starting a business? Should a more intelligent person have a shot to show what’s he is made of, more so than a less intelligent person who is already made it there from his Parents? Just where do you draw the line? Honest Question
Hovo, I hate to break your heart, but many many republicans from the farmlands are on assistance also, You know having liberals beliefs are more of the (we are all in this together) point of view, most liberals and democrats were for welfare reform and you have to remember it was Clinton who really cut that program WAY down, but MOST liberals believe that we need to take care of those who cant take care of them self, As a Surgeon friend of mind explained it to me, he said, Its kind of like when the power goes out, all different people from all walks of life have to come in to help each other for the good of all. Can SOME liberals take it to far, OH YA, just like some Conservatives take it to far on the other end
The middle of the road in both parties have more in common then apart

Issue one - ultimately in a competitive based economy, it all gets down to only one or two competitors as the big fish swallows the little ones and on. From fifty little local stores you end up with two Mega Chains, then instead of government rules you are regulated by these corporations in what you can buy and how much you pay for it.
Issue two - when one of the Mega Corporations is emitting poisons into the atmosphere or the water table, because they say it is needed to be competitive, what recourse do we citizens have who are being sickened by these emissions? How do you boycott someone who is the only provider of a service? How do you get people involved who are not directly affected by the pollution?
Like any utopia, honey, yours needs a lot of work.

Great ideas, but I don't understand why people are identifying your ideas as conservative/republican.
Freedom is an important issue to liberals. The idea of giving up freedom for security - as conservatives tend to support - causes us to lose both freedom and security.
The federal, state, county, and city governments have many programs that need to be slashed. In Dallas, they are building showcase bridges across the Trinity River that will cost 3 times as much as a simple functional bridge. The local government actually believes the bridges will attract tourism to Dallas.
But people do need to rely on the government to provide those bridges. I sure don't have $20 million to spare, but collecting a few dollars in taxes from everyone gets a fair bridge built.
Another definite liberal statement is to keep the government of our personal lives. Gay marriage is an example. Why does the government want to legislate morality? And whose morality are they going to legislate? Which church will become the state church? It would be upsetting to a lot of people in this country if Catholicism was selected. Many of the older conservative church ladies tend to think bad things about catholics.
I think your political ideas are great. They will find support on both sides of the political fence. And yet both sides will claim your ideas only support their side.

The main reason people want government assistance is because they are lazy good for nothing bums who want to sit on their *** and get free things. Theres some people who really need it, but if your on govern't assistance your whole life then you need to get yourself together and find out how to improve your own life. Most people are naturally lazy, they would sit around the house and collect a paycheck if they could. Its up to the government to let these people understand that we will not baby them anymore and its time they stop complaing and start making a living. If you want to be taken care of by a government, move to a communist country. North Korea is nice, you don't have to do anything for yourself, the government will tell you everything you need to know. Send me a postcard, if your govn't allows you to.

I am neither a liberal nor a conservative...
I am also a deployed soldier, that has been away from his family and his home far too long.
"Think before you slash"
People are inherently lazy and would rather allow someone else to both "lead" and "take the blame" afterwards.
Without a government we cannot govern.... and everyone becomes a nation unto themselves...
We've seen that happen before, and we're seeing it happen now all across the planet....
It's called "Anarchy"; for or against... look it up, and imagine America in that state.....

Usually I disagree with people but you happen to be thinking the way I think about the government! I totally agree with your comments! I seldom agree with things especially government matters! I haven't found many that think the way I feel about the government. You might be thinking of U.S. government while I'm thinking of the Canadian Government! All the money wasted on the government could be given to the Hospitals and
Schools! They'd make better use of it! Teachers , Nurses, Doctors would get be wages! Wouldn't they?

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! watch how many people tell you that you are a commi or put you down saying your a sorry liberal... I posted those very same thoughts and that`s the answeres I got. People need to get back to the basics of life work raise their kids to have morals and PERSONAL responsibilities and quit trying to tell everyone else what they can do. In my house we believe in god , hunt and OWN guns , are kids are polite and work for a living, Life is about keeping our heads above water and family. It`s a shame so many people have a problem about that !!! I`m very happy so I really don`t care what other people do or say...
