Two opinions.
====================
Actually the second law of thermodynamics would prove that God,
if he did exist, would eventually die.
This law basically says that everything complex
will eventually degrade to a simpler form.
And God, as commonly defined, is as complex as they come.
Either God is mortal (which is self-defeating), or the 2nd law disproves him.

Somebody......./ Houston, we have a problem /
====================
My opinion is another.
It is logical that everything develops from simple form to complex one.
Therefore I think the God exist in very simple absolute referens system ,
in Nothing, Emptiness, Vacuum :T=0K.
From this system ( T=0K) the God,
using his physical and mathematical laws,
created all MATERIAL WORLD .
If somebody doubt that from cold Vacuum T=0K
the heat stars, the hot MATERIAL WORLD can be created,
please, remember that The Second law of thermodynamics
does not forbid this possibility.

I haven't taken physics in a long time.... but I'll admit, this is about the only perspective someone could take that would make me revisit it! Interesting question (if not for the actuality of discovering an answer, just for the ability to apply physics (the philosophy of nature) to a supernatural problem).

The second law of thermodynamics is valid for closed systems. Meaning systems that do not exchange neither matter nor energy with the outside world. If we would put a living organism in a closed hermetic bottle then the second law of thermodynamics would applied and the creature will die. No life on earth would be possible without the energy from the sun.
We do not know if the Universe as a whole is a closed or open system.
I quite agree with your opinion on God as the basic building block of the Universe.

Actually, things do not naturally progress from simple to complex. There must be a trade off in entropy elsewhere for this to happen locally somewhere (for us it is the sun).

But yes, the 2nd law certainly means that any god could not have a long term existence in our universe. And the laws of physics means that mass, energy and information cannot be exchanged with something outside the universe (should it exits) so if god is there then he is irrelevant.

And if god cannot be proved (which would not be the case were he to have any involvement in our physical world - for instance, his answering prayers would be trivial to test for statistically) then its as good as him not existing.

So I think you have put the nail in the god coffin. Now where do you want to bury him? Next to one of the mass graves of people murdered in his name maybe.

if anything physics disproves ORGANISED RELIGION as it flies in the face of what the books say.

With one exception, Buddhism which goes pretty much hand in hand with Physics.

Although to answer your question hypothetically one would expect that "god" who created our universe must live outside of it if he created it and as such does not have to abide by the rules he set for THIS universe.

Much like our cricket is simmilar but different from baseball, because there are different rules for each.

The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics was postulated on emprical grounds, and was not proven rigorously. It seems to work most of the time under ordinary conditions, but in fact there are subtle violations of it occurring. It's not a mathematical fact that it's always and in every case true.

The bible clearly states that God exists outside of this Universe and its laws.

Therefore the laws of thermodynamics and any other laws would not pertain to Him/Her.

Nothing on earth can prove presence of God....It is faith in him that proves his presence...... Most of us when our desires are fullfilled we say God is there and the moment it is not fulfilled we say it is not true.
