The M class is an extremely problematic vehicle, there are more hate pages on the web dedicated to it than to any other vehicle.

Any M class built between 1998 and 2005 is likely to be the worst vehicle in your neighborhood, even if your neighbor keeps a 79 transam on blocks in the back yard. There are 1998 M classes with reported average maintenance costs of $30,000 per year (no joke... thats a $300,000 dollar car my friend, that only cost $35k new).

I know, I hate it too; they are pretty, have luxurious interiors, get good fuel economy for their class, and have low price tags. It's a shame.

The post 2005 models were built in a factory that underwent very expensive refits, of both employees and machinery, though these are not yet old enough to have a clear picture of whether or not these efforts did anything to improve them.

Remember, the M class is a US only model, designed by Chrysler and built in Alabama. It does not benefit from the production infrastructure that built Mercedes' reputation of quality.

The car is awsome, but white, NOT A CHANCE. White is hard to maintain. It may look extremely nice when in mint condition, but it looks horrible when dirty. Plus, white is boring.
