i'm lookin for ways to weave a wrist band for my friend, remembering in the 80's we called it the friendship band(using coloured cross stich strings (of i know of), the width is like the silicone band now in the market, use to weave friends name on it and also other design as well, does anyone still know how to do it?

The only one I remember making was where you had a # of strings tied together. Then you would start at the right hand side and move the string over and under across the other strings until it gets to the left hand side. Then you would repeat the process again with the right most string until it gets to the left.

1 2 3 4 5 6

Those #s represent strings. So, 6 would go under 5, then over 4, then under 3, over 2, under 1. At the end of the first line, it would end up looking like this:

6 1 2 3 4 5

Repeat with 5, so at the end: 5 6 1 2 3 4

etc.

Makes me all nostalgic. I remember being in fourth grade, and everyone going around with bracelets-in-progress safety-pinned to the leg of their jeans, and the teachers threatening to cut them off..hee.
