Is Star Trek dying? If so, what can we do to save it.
I don't know about you, but I thought Star Trek: Nemesis was the worst Star Trek Movie of all. And what about "Enterprise", I thought that was a great Star Trek series and had great potential, but it only lasted 4 seasons; and there seems to be no signs of a new series in development.
If you have any opinions, insight, news, etc. please post them

Sorry, folks. Warp-drive is a pipe-dream. Warp drive is based on the concept that an object can travel beyond speed of light, coupled with the theory of gravitons, which supposed to the source of gravity. Gravity can be easily manipulated to achieve the wonders of startrek.
As scientists use labs bigger than football standiums to subdivide sub-atomic particles, the gravitons have not been found. It is also discovered that as the speed of an object approaches the speed of the light, the mass of the object will approach infinity, thanks to the theory of relativity.
The latest thinking on traveling great distance in space is worm-holes, as possible rifts of space into other dimensions, the time from one end to the other end of the worm hole would be limited, while great distance is traveled.
This is why Star Trek is not in TV or movies now, because it is no longer science fiction, which requires some bases of science theories. Star Trek is now science fantasies that would not come true.

Star Trek is not dying. In case your not aware of it, a new Star Trek movie is in the works. Its being produced by the creator of Lost. The plot and time frame within the Star Trek universe has not been revealed. I personally loved Enterprise. I thought it was a good show. I also liked Nemesis but then I love all the Star Trek movies (although #5 has some serious flaws). There probably wont be a new series for quite some time. Since Enterprise was canceled early and with all the changes at Paramount the chances of a new show is slim at best. I for one have been enjoying rewatching the original with the updated effects and I cant wait for the new movie.

I don't think its dead! Sure, its just not as popular as it used to be...but come on, you can't deny the effect it has had on the world today. Many people who created technology we use today were inspired by Star Trek or influenced by that (what about cell phones??!!), not withstanding science fiction authors and such. That can NEVER be taken away, despite any mismanagement there might have been of the series in the past.
So...yeah...sure, it might not be as visible as it once was, but its...Star Trek. I think its been around so long, it would be quite difficult to come up with a new series that was appealing to today's audience, and yet was still Star Trek. It will never die, it just won't be like it used to be, thats all.

Well, yeah Star Trek is in bad shape. Got fat, flabby and out of shape relying on geeks to watch anything with the name on it rather than trying to keep it fresh and interesting. Once the current regime at Paramount moves on, there's a good chance someone might take another crack at it, but until then, don't expect anything worthwhile to appear. Also keep in mind that the longer you produce stories in one universe, the harder it is to do anything that stands out. ST has been around for a long time, and a lot of stories have been done. So it's unlikely that a new Trek is going to be the answer your looking for. I'm no longer holding out much hope for Trek, I'm looking for the next thing that could be as big as Trek was. (I thought just maybe we had it, then Fox killed Firefly before it got a chance). Nothing yet, but I keep looking.

Well, considering that Captain Kirk is practicing law and the rest of the crew is either retired or dead, I'd say Star trek has had its day!

The basic concept will always live on, in our memories and in our present day technology.
Outer Limits and Twilight Zone will not die, either.
Great imagination and creativity are hard to extinguish.
